Spring is in the air and there are plenty of ways to celebrate it here in Stanly County. From an Easter egg hunt to art and wine at local vineyards, and from an outdoorsman’s bonanza to a fun musical presentation, you can take your pick or choose to attend all of these special events.

On Friday, March 18 through Sunday, March 20, The Talent Company presents “Seussical,” The event takes place at the Agr-Civic Center. Show time is 7:30 with a 3 pm matinee on Sunday. This family-friendly show will take you on a wild ride as it brings to life many Dr. Seuss classics. The Talent Company is a non-profit musical theater organization created in the fall of 2005 for the purpose of providing the youth of Stanly County with a safe and supportive creative outlet. The Company performs two musical theater shows each year with casts composed of the elementary, middle and high school students of Stanly County.

On Saturday at 10 am Pfeiffer University will hold an Easter egg hunt for children. Time: Check-in and Games from 10 am-11 am; Easter Egg Hunt at 11 am. Where: Pfeiffer University (48380 US-52, Misenheimer, NC 28109), in front of the Administration Building. Parking: North Campus, behind Administration Building or Knapp Gym. Ages: Children from 2-11 years of age are welcome. Prizes will be awarded in age categories. Easter eggs will contain treats and small prizes. Parents are encouraged to accompany children 6 and under during The Hunt. Games and Activities: There will be some egg-themes races, Egg Dying and Painting, and snacks for all participants.

On Saturday from noon until 3:30 pm the Outdoorsman’s Bonanza takes place at Market Station in downtown Albemarle. More than $175,000 in prizes are to be given away at this hugely popular event. Only 3,500 tickets are available. Prizes include boats, grills, golf carts, cash and much more.

On Sunday Rocky River Vineyards presents Art and Wine from noon until 5 pm. Food trucks arrive at noon and the painting starts at 1 pm. Cajun Canvas invites you to join in this afternoon of painting, wine, food, music and fun. The theme is “Spring Daisies.” Painters will have a choice of background color.

Also on Sunday, Dennis Vineyards presents Twisted Palette from 3 pm to 5 pm. Come and join the fun at this wine and painting party.
